On Fridays, we come together to pray for a change in the President, and, barring that change; a change in the Presidency.

This Friday, we are coming to you live from outside the White House. Every week we have been praying for a change in the occupant of the Oval Office, but today we want to pray about the White House itself.

Particularly, we want to reflect on the history of the Oval Office and the White House, the good and bad, and what can be done in the future to better represent who we want to become as a nation.

You can join us live as we pray this prayer at 1pm ET/ 12 CT/ 11am MT/ 10am PT on Facebook and YouTube and the Vote Common Good website.

Prayer 1 – God Who Was, Is, and Is To Come, we pray for the history of the White House, the good and the bad, and we pray that we move into the future by building on the positive and turning from the misdeeds of our nation.

We pray that Donald Trump sees the White House and the Office of the Presidency for what it is, a place which pulls its power from the people. We pray that Trump begins to represent all of the people, not just the people who speak and look like him.

Prayer 2 – God Who Was, Is, and Is To Come, we pray for the history of the White House, the good and the bad, and we pray that we move into the future by building on the positive and turning from the misdeeds of our nation.

We pray for forgiveness for our nation in regard to the reprehensible institution of slavery, and we acknowledge the abhorrent way in which the White House was built. We pray that our President publicly acknowledges our history, and builds a future with restitution and reverence.

Prayer 3 – God Who Was, Is, and Is To Come, we pray for the history of the White House, the good and the bad, and we pray that we move into the future by building on the positive and turning from the misdeeds of our nation.

We pray that we as a nation follow the lead of 2008, and elect many more underrepresented voices in politics. We pray for a proliferation of minority politicians, and politicians who purposefully set places for all the people, not just a select few.

Prayer 4 – God Who Was, Is, and Is To Come, we pray for the history of the White House, the good and the bad, and we pray that we move into the future by building on the positive and turning from the misdeeds of our nation.

We pray for the place that America holds in the world. We pray that we will be a reliable ally and a just partner in affairs both foreign and domestic.

Prayer 5 – God Who Was, Is, and Is To Come, we pray for the history of the White House, the good and the bad, and we pray that we move into the future by building on the positive and turning from the misdeeds of our nation.

We pray that Donald Trump comes to understand the oath of the Oval Office, and that he acts in accordance with the expectations this nation has for him. We pray that, should he continue to be unable to live up to these expectations, he realizes his shortcomings and resigns.

Prayer 6 – God Who Was, Is, and Is To Come, we pray for the history of the White House, the good and the bad, and we pray that we move into the future by building on the positive and turning from the misdeeds of our nation.

We pray for the staff of the White House, specifically the public servants who do their duty regardless of the occupant. We pray that they are filled with wisdom, and that their work produces a path forward for the office that is filled with change and character.

Prayer 7 – God Who Was, Is, and Is To Come, we pray for the history of the White House, the good and the bad, and we pray that we move into the future by building on the positive and turning from the misdeeds of our nation.

We pray for the next occupant of the Oval Office, and we pray that the will of the people will remove Donald Trump from that role. We pray for Faith, Hope, and Love to become action, and for that action to produce a change on Election Day.
