Today, in honor of Walk the Walk 2020, which Vote Common Good is hosting alongside Faith In Action, Red Letter Christians, Greater Things and Truth & Conciliation, we are specifically praying that Donald Trump would begin to walk the walk, and that if he doesn’t, a new President would outrun him on the way to the 2021 Presidency.
Walk the Walk 2020 is a faith pilgrimage of reckoning, resolve and love. We invite people of faith, clergy, and faith leaders to publicly demonstrate their commitment to “walk the walk” of Race Reckoning, Resolve & Love.
We will reckon with anti-Blackness that permeates our past and present as a nation and as faith institutions. We will focus on three primary outcomes: reckon with and repent of personal and structural racism, white supremacy, and anti-Blackness actions and attitudes; resolve to advance racial justice in our faith traditions and nation, through voting, organizing, and advocacy; and reframe the faith narrative in this nation as we approach the 2020 election. We are using this declaration as a call to faith leaders.

Prayer 1 – God of Reckoning, Resolve, and Love, we pray that you will guide our steps and put a path before us as we strive to walk the walk. We pray that the President will not only change his public persona, but that he will walk the walk in private.
We pray that Donald Trump walks the walk when it comes to the faith he so loudly proclaims. We pray that he will begin to value the Christian virtues of humility, grace, and wisdom, and will humbly resign the office if he is unable to do so.
Prayer 2 – God of Reckoning, Resolve, and Love, we pray that you will guide our steps and put a path before us as we strive to walk the walk. We pray that the President will not only change his public persona, but that he will walk the walk in private.
We pray that Donald Trump walks the walk of a proper President, a walk filled with dignity, diplomacy, and decisiveness. We pray that he strays from the silence he has so often portrayed towards important causes, and instead leads the nation to lament that which we have done wrong, and build upon that which we have done right.

We pray that we, as people of faith, walk the walk of loving our neighbor as ourself. We pray that people of faith in this nation are a large part of a decisive vote to defeat Donald Trump and his lies, corruption, and hatred.

We pray that our next President walks the walk when it comes to their campaign promises. We pray that Trump’s successor will be a person of pristine honor, and will serve with a superior sense of selflessness.

We pray that Donald Trump walks the walk all the way out of the Oval Office, and that he will accept the election results as final and exit with grace.

We pray that Donald Trump walks the walk and learns how to lead and put the people first. We pray that he leads not only his base, but that he begins to be aware of the needs of the entire country.

We pray for the American electorate, that they will all walk the walk to the ballot box on November 3rd, and that together they will run this President out of the Oval Office.
