Friends,
Tomorrow morning, we’ll be in Laredo, Texas, to stand with the community there fighting against Donald Trump’s border wall. In Laredo, this affects their daily lives.
Trump’s wall has human, environmental, safety, and physical costs.
On Saturday, October 17, residents of Laredo’s oldest neighborhood — Barrio Azteca — went to the Rio Grande and handed Congressman Henry Cuellar a petition with 240 signatures. They want the Department of Homeland Security to show them the data proving the wall and river buoys won’t flood their homes.

They are also demanding answers for the massive no-bid contracts behind the project. This election, corruption is a top issue for voters.
Nature trails like Las Palmas are known for their birds. Dozens of eighth graders had recently spent a morning cleaning up palm fronds. But now, DHS’s plans show the border wall running right through it.
When no one is watching, this country harms people. That’s happening at our borders. That’s happened in Minnesota this year with the murder of two American citizens at the hands of federal agents.
MAGA Christian Nationalist politicians talk about protecting families, but not only are they separating families at the border and within our borders, but they are also harming the homes of the people in Laredo for their agenda.
So, as we continue our tour on the Faith, Hope, & Love bus, we’re showing up.

This is the kind of issue that gets people to the polls on Tuesday to help change the control of Congress.
Tomorrow’s rally will feature speakers, live music, and a Día de los Muertos procession, because this community refuses to give up.

Vote Common Good is standing with the border coalition that organized it, four days before Election Day, so that everyone watching Texas can see who’s with these families. And from there, we have a fully packed schedule throughout Texas, standing with candidates for the Common Good, giving voters rides to the polls, and getting out the vote.
Whatever you can give today, just five days out from Election Day, keeps us on the road and standing next to people who are fighting for their homes, families, and yes — freedom.
In this together,
Doug
