Last week, on the Virginia State University campus in Petersburg, a reporter from The Telegraph asked me what I believe about Donald Trump.
I told her that I find him to be a moral void. And I really mean that.

I also told her a story that gives me hope — and I feel like we need some hope today, just seven days out from Election Day. There was a man from my congregation who was a lifelong plumber and had voted for Trump three times.
He pulled me aside, tears in his eyes, and said he couldn’t do it anymore.

He seemed a little afraid to say it, but also like he couldn’t hold it in.
Reporting from The Telegraph shows that he’s not alone. White evangelical approval of Trump has dropped from 78 percent in January 2025 to 58 percent now.
And so I have to think that when people like this man see our Faith, Hope, & Love bus coming down the road, it means something.

They are looking for somewhere else to stand, and this bus is how we’re trying to give them one.
Right now, we’re retracing the 1961 Freedom Ride route through to New Orleans, and on Thursday we roll into Houston to get out the vote.

We are just one week away from Election Day, and we need to leave everything on the field.
