Your tax dollars paid for a Christian Nationalist event Trump didn’t bother to attend.
Jeffrey L Steward,
Last Sunday, Trump’s MAGA court pastors had the National Mall for the Christian Nationalist “Rededicate 250.”
We had Redirect 250 — nine hours of counter-programming running alongside it, all day, for every person who needed to hear that what was happening on that Mall was not Christianity.
Here’s what your tax dollars paid for while we were doing that.
Trump couldn’t even be bothered to show up in person. He sent a video instead — and not even a fresh one. It was the same exact clip he’d recorded weeks earlier for the America Reads the Bible event. It played to rows of empty seats. Even the people who were supposed to show up for this didn’t show up for this.
|
During the event, he sent a Truth Social post in all caps: “I HOPE EVERYBODY AT REDEDICATE 250 IS HAVING A GOOD TIME.” Vance, Rubio, and Hegseth also couldn’t be bothered to leave the house for this.
One of the speakers from that stage was Christian Nationalist Ed Gallrein — who, two days later, won the most expensive House primary in American history by ousting 14-year Republican incumbent Thomas Massie. Massie’s crime? He only voted with Trump 90% of the time.
But first, Gallrein stood at that podium on the Mall and compared Trump to the Good Shepherd.

I’ve read the Gospels. The Good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. He doesn’t demand 100% loyalty or send a recycled video from the golf course.
Here’s what they don’t want you to know: they are not unopposed.
Thousands of people tuned in to our coalition’s Redirect 250 that day. That happened because of people like you.
And we’re not stopping there. On June 12th, we’re bringing common good candidates to Memphis — to the very center where Dr. King was scheduled to speak before he was assassinated — to train them on how to respond to the Supreme Court’s recent voting decision and take that message to their districts.
That’s the work. That’s what your support pays for.
|
Right now, we have over 300 people like you making a monthly commitment to this work. We’d like to get to 400.
If you’ve given before and haven’t set up a recurring donation, I want you to know — we see every one of those contributions. I write back to donors personally when I can, and I’m always struck by how surprised people are that anyone noticed. We notice.
$5 a month. $10 a month. $25 a month. $50 a month. Whatever you can do — do it monthly.

If you’ve saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

Monthly giving is the simplest way to stay in this with us. Set it up once and you’re with us in Memphis, on the road, and in every district between now and November.
In this together,
Doug
