This is the federal government, funded by taxpayers to work for the common good, being turned into a personal weapon for Donald Trump’s agenda.
A grant to build improvements at an Indigenous languages archive in Alaska — flagged for “promoting inclusion and diverse perspectives.”
A documentary about Jewish women’s slave labor during the Holocaust — flagged for “contributing to DEI by amplifying marginalized voices.”
Even a 40-volume scholarly series on the history of American music wasn’t safe.
U.S. District Judge Colleen McMahon called it “a textbook example of unconstitutional viewpoint discrimination.”
They are counting on us to be too busy. Too worried about groceries and gas to pay attention to what’s happening to our democracy. And honestly — most days, that’s exactly where we are.
But this ruling cracked something open. And we can’t look away.
Look at whose stories got flagged. Indigenous languages. Jewish women. Black history. The music that built this country. These aren’t radical subjects. This is America. And someone decided they were dangerous.
