While Pete Hegseth and his pastor pray for violence, James Talarico practices love

“I love you more than you could ever hate me.”
Friends,
The dangerous rhetoric and actions of this administration continue to shock the American people. Pete Hegseth’s pastor prays “that God kills” Common Good candidate James Talarico.
This is Brooks Potteiger, who is Hegseth’s closest spiritual adviser and preached at the Pentagon. On a recent podcast, Potteiger called for James to be “crucified with Christ.”
James’s answer: “Jesus loves. Christian Nationalism kills.”

Hegseth himself publicly prays for violence. At the first monthly Christian worship service at the Pentagon since the U.S. attacked Iran, Hegseth prayed during the livestream that every round would “find its mark.”
This is the Secretary of Defense of the United States, praying for more deaths in a needless war that has already killed thousands, including children.
|
This is Christian Nationalism — using the Bible, prayers, and pastors to push a regime’s policy agenda and to front its illegal war.
|
The same man who prays for enemies’ deaths is now appointing military chaplains and influencing the spiritual lives of U.S. service members.
This is why electing leaders like James Talarico matters.
James’s response continues: “You may pray for my death, Pastor, but I still love you. I love you more than you could ever hate me.”
James’s response is everything Hegseth’s isn’t.
Vote Common Good supports candidates like James — people who reach faith voters and make the case that this isn’t what Christianity is supposed to look like.
Right now, Vote Common Good is supporting more than 40 congressional candidates across 17 states who are like James.
Will you help us elect them?
