The parks now require Donald Trump’s face on their pass. The message from MAGA is “we don’t celebrate this, we don’t honor this. We only honor Trump.”
But we do honor and see this as Americans. Faith doesn’t look away from this kind of evil. And faith doesn’t look away from that kind of endurance.
That’s what Juneteenth holds: the overcoming of the evil that was done.
We are accountable to the history of Juneteenth. And the best way I know to honor it is to keep doing the work.
We’re traveling across the country through the midterms in November to do just that.
James Talarico — a common good candidate in Texas — is leading Ken Paxton in the polls right now, in a Senate race that nobody thought was supposed to be competitive.
And Texas is just one state. We have more than 40 candidates running across 17 states right now, in races that have MAGA on the run.
We are winning races we weren’t “supposed” to win. That is because of this community — people who refused to let the hard seasons be the last word.
If that’s you, we need you in this fight. Please donate any amount today to help us keep traveling and fighting.
We need leaders who will celebrate Juneteenth and not bury our history. We need common good candidates in the halls of Congress. And we need faith voters to feel confident they can vote their values.
In this together,
Doug
