Our plan for the next 11 days

The Ride has been an incredible experience so far — and I’m proud to share our journey with you. At Clinton College in Rock Hill, South Carolina, people lined both sides of the sidewalk and applauded as our riders entered the building.

At Rock Hill, the original Freedom Riders were met with violence. Clinton College has stood for civil rights for all since 1894 through every decade when that was neither safe nor popular.

Standing there with those who’ve carried this history was so incredibly moving. Especially compared to the headlines buzzing my phone between stops.

There are just 11 days left

MAGA politicians in control right now are wrapping themselves in Christianity as they gut voting rights, cage families, and pick and choose who counts as the “we” in We the People.

So, we’re not resting.

The Ride is continuing through to New Orleans, the stop the original Freedom Riders weren’t allowed to reach by bus due to racism and mass violence.

And we’re taking our energy straight through to Texas to work alongside James Talarico in the Senate race and the congressional candidates running alongside him.

Talarico is a seminarian, and Ken Paxton’s Christian Nationalist response to that is to fake an AI video of him scribbling in a King James Bible.

But people are behind Talarico — even before they knew his name nationally, 1,400 people came out to see him on a weekday.

The polls are in a dead heat, early voting started Monday, and Election Day is November 3. That’s just 11 days.

A Democrat hasn’t won a Senate seat in Texas in 33 years.

Our plans for mobilizing voters in the final days are coming together now — we can win this, but we need all the support we can get to literally and figuratively put fuel in the tank.
