We can’t forget how Springfield became such a big part of the national conversation. Donald Trump made the lie that Haitian immigrants were “eating people’s pets” part of his 2024 presidential campaign stump speech.
It was a hideous lie, and the city’s mayor, city manager, and police chief all confirmed it wasn’t true. But that didn’t matter to MAGA. Within hours, Springfield was getting bomb threats against its schools, city hall, and other city offices.
We know this is how Christian Nationalism works, and that’s why our Faith, Hope, & Love tour couldn’t come at a better time.
Here’s where we are. On Saturday, we’re headed to Iowa to stand with Lindsay James, a congressional candidate and faith leader who MAGA opponents are smearing as not being “Christian” enough.
Then we’ll drive the bus straight to Springfield on Sunday to stand with the Haitian community. If you’re local, please find us and bring a friend. Heck, bring your congregation or whoever else would like to join you.
Most reading this won’t be able to make the drive, and that’s okay. Please help us get there and follow our updates.
It costs $400 just to fill the tank each time we move this bus, and on a week like this one, we’ll be filling it more than once. Can you donate any amount toward the cost?
