We’ve shared some details with you about what’s happening inside Trump’s immigrant internment camps, particularly the one in Florida they’ve dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz.”
You’ve heard about people being served rotting food with maggots, denied medication, locked in cages with overflowing toilets and swarms of mosquitoes. They even took one man’s Bible from him, and told him “here there is no right to religion.”
But what you may not know is that this camp is not an outlier. More of these camps are in planning stages or already built. The next one could be in my backyard or yours.
Vote Common Good is teaming up with a national coalition of partners to bring attention to the torturous conditions inside camps like this – and the alarming rate at which these facilities are growing.
This coalition consists of faith leaders, civil rights leaders, veterans, anticorruption investigators, and activists united in one purpose: STOP THE CAMPS.
We’re kicking things off with a national call to moral action next Thursday, August 7th, at 7pm ET / 4pm PT, and I’d like you to tune in.
Vote Common Good is teaming up with our friends at Turn Left, Faith in Democracy, the Dekleptocracy Alliance, Leaving MAGA, and other partners to raise awareness about the rapid expansion of ICE detention centers and help people mobilize in their own communities to stop the camps.
On this call you will:
- Learn about the appalling conditions inside Trump’s internment camps.
- Hear about other locations in the works — maybe one near you.
- Learn how we can mobilize to stop the camps.
DOug Pagitt will be on the panel of guests alongside civil rights attorney Gerald Griggs, president of the Georgia NAACP, Rev. Jen Butler, founder of Faith in Democracy, and retired Army Major Richard Ojeda, among other guests.
The call will be livestreamed to the Vote Common Good YouTube page and other platforms, so it will be free for anyone to participate.
