Friends,
Today is Good Friday, and we’re in the middle of Passover. For many people in my life, this is a sacred week.
Both traditions ask the same basic question: what do you do when the powerful prey on the vulnerable? Micah 6:8 has been on my mind. Do justly. Love mercy. Walk humbly.
Jesus said the same thing a different way in the Sermon on the Mount: blessed are the merciful, blessed are the peacemakers, blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.
These are not cherished notions inside the MAGA movement. But this Good Friday, this Easter, this Passover, millions of people are sitting at seder tables and filling church pews and working toward a world built on exactly those ideas.
The Trump administration and Christian Nationalists can claim these traditions all they want. They don’t get to define them.
This is the work Vote Common Good has been doing for years. We’ve sat with faith voters in districts across the country who know something is wrong with what they’re being sold. They just need to know they’re not alone in thinking so.
Your donation of $10, $25, $50, $100, or any amount helps us reach more of those people, in more places, and push back against MAGA Christianity before November.
On this Good Friday and during this Passover, we are grateful to be doing this work alongside people who believe a different world is possible.
In this together,
Doug
