Now JD Vance has the audacity to sit down with Laura Ingraham and say, right before the 4th of July, that the Vatican’s views on immigration are “troubling.” That Catholic leadership needs to learn something from Donald Trump and Marco Rubio about “the dignity of the native-born factory worker.”
He called yard signs that read “no person is illegal” a “disgusting butchering of the Nicene Creed.” This is a man in the Trump administration telling the pope what Jesus meant.
Pope Leo has already answered JD Vance more than once, calling the treatment of immigrants in this country “inhuman.”
And on the 4th of July, as this country turns 250 years old and the administration Vance serves celebrates nothing but itself, Leo will be standing on Lampedusa, the island where thousands of migrants have drowned within sight of Europe.
