Catholics Vote Common Good Participates in Democratic National Convention Preview Day in Chicago

A photo of Denise Murphy McGraw with another DNC convention participant smiling in the lobby of the convention center in Chicago.

Last week Vote Common Good joined about 100 progressive allied organizations in Chicago to tour the United Center, the site of the 2024 Democratic National Convention’s official proceedings and programming.

“We want you to have a really, really good experience with this convention, because we know that when you leave the convention, you have to do the hard work,” said Minyon Moore, Democratic National Convention Chair.

After touring the United Center, allied groups gathered at McCormick Place to meet with DNCC, Host Committee, Biden for President, and Democratic National Committee staff and connect with local vendors.

In 2020, I wrote an op-ed for the National Catholic Reporter titled “A Catholic Case for Joe Biden.” In it, I quoted Jesus’s command to “love one another.”

During Donald Trump’s first term in office, he had deliberately violated that commandment by inflaming the political discourse and exacerbating hatred. For example, after white nationalists marched in Charlottesville and killed counterprotestor Heather Heyer, Trump told reporters there were “very fine people on both sides.”

Alarming Polling News highlights the urgency of our organizing efforts

A new poll reported by National Catholic Register shows Trump polling ahead of President Biden among Catholic voters. The work we do in the next few months can change that.

A graphic featuring a headline from National Catholic Register which reads: “Trump polls ahead of Biden among Catholic voters with shift in Hispanic vote.” Included is a photo of a small American flag set against a backdrop of people walking in a crowd, out of focus, with a campaign banner visible.

Catholic voters for Biden made a profound impact in the 2020 election. We will do so again this year with your support.

Have a blessed week.

All our best,

Denise Murphy McGraw
