CATHOLICS VOTE COMMON GOOD APPLAUDS JAMES TALARICO’S POWERFUL “LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR” CAMPAIGN AD
Progressive Faith Organization Praises Message of Faith, Compassion and Human Dignity
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Catholics Vote Common Good today applauded a new campaign ad from Texas State Representative and Democratic U.S. Senate nominee James Talarico, praising its strong “Love Your Neighbor” message and clear alignment with the organization’s values.
Rooted in one of Christianity’s most fundamental commandments, the ad reminds Americans that faith calls us to care for every neighbor—not only those who look like us, worship like us or vote like us. It offers a hopeful alternative to the fear, resentment and division that have come to dominate much of American politics.
“James Talarico’s ad delivers a powerful moral message at a moment when our country urgently needs it,” said Denise Murphy McGraw, National Co-Chair of Catholics Vote Common Good. “Loving our neighbors is not merely a campaign slogan. It is a commandment that calls us to respect the dignity of every person, protect the vulnerable and recognize our responsibility to one another.”
Texas is home to approximately 8.5 million Catholics, representing nearly 30 percent of the state’s population. Catholics Vote Common Good believes the ad’s direct appeal to love one’s neighbor will resonate deeply with Catholics across Texas and with other people of faith seeking a more compassionate and unifying vision for public life.
Talarico, a former public school teacher and seminary student, has made his Christian faith and commitment to compassionate public service central to his campaign. The ad demonstrates how faith can inspire unity, moral courage and concern for others instead of being used to justify exclusion or deepen political divisions.
“In a state with such a large and diverse Catholic community, this message has particular power,” McGraw continued. “Our faith teaches that loving our neighbors requires more than words. It calls us to defend human dignity, stand with those who are vulnerable and help build a society in which every person has the opportunity to thrive.”
Catholics Vote Common Good commends Talarico and his campaign for communicating this message with clarity, strength and hope.
