Catholics Vote Common Good Announces First Candidate Endorsements as National Movement Expands Electoral Engagement

National progressive faith organization launches endorsement process for federal, state and local candidates committed to advancing the common good

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Catholics Vote Common Good (CVCG), the national progressive faith organization founded in 2020, today announced the launch of its first-ever candidate endorsement program, opening the application process for candidates seeking federal, state, and local office who are committed to advancing the common good.

Catholics Vote Common Good will formally endorse candidates whose leadership reflects the values of human dignity, democracy, economic opportunity, peace, and respect for every person.

Candidates do not need to be Catholic—or of any particular faith tradition—to receive the organization's endorsement. Instead, endorsements will be based on a candidate's demonstrated commitment to governing in a manner that serves the common good.

The endorsement program represents the next chapter in Catholics Vote Common Good's national mission to organize values-driven voters and help elect leaders who place the common good above partisan division.

The announcement marks a significant expansion of the organization's electoral engagement as Catholics Vote Common Good prepares an ambitious nationwide voter mobilization effort ahead of the 2026 elections. The organization will focus much of its work on nearly 30 competitive U.S. House races across more than a dozen states with significant Catholic voting populations, while also considering endorsements of candidates for federal, state, and local office throughout the country.

Rooted in Catholic social teaching, the common good recognizes that every person possesses inherent dignity and that society flourishes when public policy promotes opportunity, justice, compassion, and shared responsibility. It calls on leaders to strengthen families and communities, expand economic opportunity, protect democratic institutions, care for those on the margins, and seek peace while respecting the dignity of every human person. As Pope Leo XIV has said, "Democracy recognizes the dignity of every person and calls each citizen to participate responsibly in the pursuit of the common good."

Founded in 2020, Catholics Vote Common Good has grown into a national movement dedicated to engaging Catholics and other people of faith in civic life through voter education, advocacy, grassroots organizing, and issue-based engagement.

Endorsed candidates will become part of a coordinated national voter engagement effort that includes volunteer organizing, postcard campaigns, direct voter outreach, mobile billboards, digital communications, earned media, and other strategic grassroots initiatives designed to reach values-driven voters in key communities across the country.

Candidates seeking endorsement will complete a questionnaire addressing their commitment to protecting human dignity, strengthening working families, defending democratic institutions, promoting peace, and governing with civility and respect. The organization will also evaluate each candidate's record of public service, community involvement, and leadership.

"The decisions Americans make in 2026 will help determine the direction of our nation for years to come, making this one of the most consequential elections of our lifetime," said Denise Murphy McGraw, National Co-Chair of Catholics Vote Common Good.

"People of faith are called not simply to vote, but to engage. Our endorsement program is about identifying and supporting candidates who recognize the dignity of every person, are committed to strengthening our democracy, and will govern with integrity, compassion, and a genuine commitment to the common good. Whether they are Catholic, members of another faith tradition, or of no faith at all, we are looking for leaders who understand that public office is about serving others. We are excited to stand beside those candidates and mobilize volunteers and voters in communities across the country to help elect Common Good candidates."
